Set against the backdrop of rural Shelby, IL, the new McLean County Animal Control Facility introduces a modern space dedicated to the care and adoption of animals. The 12,000-square-foot building was constructed with essential new infrastructure, including a well, septic system, retention pond, and extended power lines to fully support the site. Designed on concrete footings with a cold-formed metal and load-bearing masonry structure, the facility features an EIFS, masonry, and metal panel exterior, and is topped with a flat, hot fluid-applied waterproof roof with roof drains and rooftop HVAC units. Inside, the single-story layout brings together offices, multiple kennel rooms, adoption spaces, veterinary rooms, and storage, creating a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for both staff and the animals they serve.
