The Katherine Mecham Barney Elementary School No. 8 project, built for Queen Creek Unified School District, included the new construction of a 72,378-square-foot campus located in Queen Creek, AZ. The new campus houses two separate two-story classroom buildings, which house students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The facility includes a smart laboratory/science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) area, a multipurpose building with administrative offices, and a cafeteria/gymnasium combination space with a stage, and music rooms. The elementary school was constructed on a concrete foundation supported by footings and masonry stem walls with a structural frame comprised of concrete masonry unit block and steel, a metal panel soft overhang, and a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) standard roof.
