The Solar Installation at Buckeye Union High School District project included the new construction of 4.29 megawatt photovoltaic solar arrays at two schools located in Buckeye, AZ and one school in Goodyear, AZ. The array functions as a renewable power source by converting solar energy from direct current into alternating current and distributing energy to the service entrance sections of each school. Construction of the photovoltaic solar arrays consisted of mounting 15,468 solar cells on 29 steel carport canopy shade structures and two ground mounted systems. Due to CORE’s energy efficient construction practices, the Solar Installation at Buckeye Union High School District project met the goal of earning incentives for solar energy from Arizona Public Service by providing 70% of the Buckeye Union High School District’s energy needs through renewable solar energy.
