The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Charter High School project, built for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District, included the new construction of a three-story, 139,000-square-foot high school located in New Orleans, LA. The campus supports kindergarten through 12th grade and includes classrooms, laboratories, a gymnasium, and a theater. The project achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the implementation of state-of-the art electrical and emergency systems in addition to sustainable green energy systems. The high school was constructed using a concrete and structural steel frame on a pre-cast concrete and timber piles foundation. The exterior features concrete masonry unit block with brick veneer and composite wall panels, and a built-up flat roof system. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Charter High School now provides a fully modernized facility for academic student instruction in the community of the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans.
