The Gila River Police Department Facility, located within the Gila River Indian Reservation in Sacaton, AZ, was constructed on a 20-acre site, with 15 acres developed for a comprehensive public safety campus. The campus features a main building housing dispatch, evidence storage, a fitness area, locker rooms, and a community room, along with a support building that includes a vehicle bay, inspection area, and K-9 kennels. Additional site elements include a shade structure, solar carports, and a vehicle impound lot. Construction utilized slab-on-grade foundations, continuous spread footings, and integral color CMU with steel beams, with dual redundancy built into all mechanical and electrical systems, and additional MDF racks installed in the 911 server room to support future expansion. To ensure functionality, CORE conducted a commissioning process, testing a dispatch console to confirm proper installation before broader system implementation, saving time and enhancing reliability. For optimal acoustic control, the project incorporated high Sound Transmission Class (STC) materials, with specialized glass openings, doors, walls, ceiling systems. The exterior combines masonry, metal wall panels, and foam roofing. Designed to honor local culture, the facility features native and historical elements, such as medallions symbolizing the seven districts of the Gila River Indian Community, a healing garden, and community spaces for reflection, while providing vital public safety services to the Pima and Maricopa tribes.
