The Memorial Union Renovation project, built for Arizona State University, included the renovation of 75,000 square foot student union located on the university’s main campus in Tempe, AZ. The facility functions as the primary food service, social, and study area for over 60,000 students. The student union was constructed using highly recycled content and low volatile organic compound materials to upgrade room acoustics, isolate interior sound, and control noise for heating ventilation and air conditioning systems. The project also features an 800 and 600 seat ballroom, study areas, conference rooms, a theater, and public arcade with a bowling alley. This project achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for incorporating occupancy sensors and monitoring systems for sustainability and energy conservation. Due to CORE’s adherence to strict deadlines and restrictive scheduling, the Memorial Union Renovation project was completed in 104 days while the building remained open and operational.
