The Illinois Capitol North Wing Renovation project, completed for the State of Illinois Office of the Architect of the Capitol in Springfield, IL, encompassed the addition, demolition, renovation, and restoration of 110,380 square feet within the historic Capitol building. The work included a complete gut of existing finishes and mechanical systems, followed by the meticulous restoration and replacement of historic plaster, decorative painting, and original stone and wood finishes. The project also introduced a new conference center and a north entryway, seamlessly integrating modern functionality with the building’s historic character. Constructed on a concrete foundation supported by footings, drilled concrete piers, and stone columns, the renovation features a masonry exterior with metal panels and a single-ply roof system.
