The Parker Elementary School project, built for Sherman Independent School District in Sherman, Texas, brings to life a brand-new, 111,550-square-foot, two-story elementary school in the growing Heritage Ranch development. Designed to serve the district’s expanding student population, the school features 46 classrooms, a spacious kitchen and cafetorium, and an insulated concrete form (ICF) gymnasium that doubles as a storm shelter and serves as a competition venue for high school sports. The project also incorporated significant site enhancements, including three new parking lots, a dedicated bus loop, two detention ponds, a basketball court, and two playground areas to support both learning and recreation. Constructed on a slab-on-void foundation with structural steel, load-bearing masonry, and ICF elements, the facility’s exterior blends masonry, metal wall panels, curtainwall, and storefront systems to create a modern, resilient, and visually appealing design that reflects the community’s growth and commitment to education. Due to the project’s exceptional design, durability, and ability to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community, this project won the TEXO Distinguished Building Award.
