The Shana K. Wortham Intermediate School project, built for Frisco Independent School District, included the new construction of a three-story, 143,000-square-foot academic facility in McKinney, TX. This campus serves approximately 1,050 students in grades five through six and was the first intermediate school constructed in the district. The school features instructional areas, fine arts, a cafeteria, a library, administration, outdoor play areas, courtyards, and parking. Wortham Intermediate offers flexible open spaces to accommodate active, hands-on learning and promotes an innovative teaching environment tailored to meet the specific needs of this age group. The facility was constructed on a concrete foundation with a structural steel frame, masonry exterior, and built-up roof. The campus also features a storm shelter constructed of precast concrete wall panels with a precast concrete double tee roof.
