The Debra Nelson Middle School project, built for the Frisco Independent School District, included the new construction of a 145,000-square-foot middle school located in Frisco, TX. The project features 55 classrooms, a library, three science laboratories, a practice gymnasium, a competition gymnasium, and a cafeteria with kitchen. The school also includes two lighted tennis courts, a competition sports field with a four-lane running track, discus and shotput pads with protective cages, multiple event runways and landings, and a 218-space parking lot with ADA compliant parking spaces. The project achieved an Energy Star Rating for a white reflective roof, geothermal HVAC systems, energy management controls, and energy efficient lighting. The school was constructed on a foundation of slab-on-grade concrete with a structural frame comprised of insulating concrete form, structural steel, tilt-wall, and concrete masonry unit block, a stucco and brick exterior, and a modified bituminous roof. Debra Nelson Middle School now provides a high performance, energy efficient school campus for students.
