The Betty Engelstad School of Health Sciences project included the new construction of a 73,079-square-foot educational facility located on the College of Southern Nevada’s campus in Henderson, NV. This modern facility integrates a variety of spaces, including traditional classrooms, office and nursing suites, microbiology laboratories, and a two-story library offering scenic views of the athletic complex. A unique on-site demonstration garden, featuring regional medicinal plants, enhances the educational experience. The building was constructed on a slab-on-grade and slab-on-deck foundation with structural and decorative masonry block and structural steel framing, and membrane roofing. An exterior of fiber cement and ultra high-performance concrete paneling completed the building’s construction. The building systems feature four-pipe hydronic heating and cooling, lab air valve exhaust, biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, and SMART classroom walls. The Betty Engelstad School of Health Sciences project provides a state-of-the-art facility for the training and collaboration of healthcare professionals in southern Nevada.
