The City of Henderson Fire Station No. 85 project involved the construction of a modern, 11,946-square-foot fire station, strategically replacing a former dog park in Henderson, NV. As part of the project, the two-acre dog park was thoughtfully relocated and rebuilt, ensuring continued community access to this valued recreational space. The station includes exposed masonry and metal panels with membrane roofing, and features a refueling station, spacious dorms, and storage for off-highway vehicles which support rescue efforts for the harder to reach, less populated areas of Henderson. The project achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its energy efficient design and inclusion of photovoltaic panels, as well as a Green Globes Building Certification from the Green Building Initiative. The fire station was constructed on a cast-in-place concrete foundation with masonry walls, and steel joists with metal decking. The City of Henderson Fire Station No. 85 project provides an enhanced facility with improved accommodations for the firefighters who serve the community of Henderson.
