The Great Basin Hall project included the new construction of a five-story, 116,360-square-foot student housing facility located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The facility houses 115 students pursuing the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and supports 411 beds. The project achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council upon its completion. Construction consisted of a foundation of cast-in-place concrete with a block and plank structural frame, a masonry veneer exterior, and a membrane and metal roof. The project also features a storefront and curtain wall finish, and punched window openings. Despite facing 28 lost working days due to inclement weather, CORE’s meticulous planning, scheduling, and collaboration with Trade Partners ensured the project was completed on time, exemplifying our shared commitment to excellence, resilience in overcoming challenges, and the dedication of our Trade Partners to delivering exceptional results. This facility now stands as a cornerstone of the University’s campus, supporting the next generation of STEM leaders.
