The Great Basin Hall project, complete for the University of Nevada, Reno, included the new construction of a five-story, 116,360-square-foot student housing facility located on the university’s active campus. The facility houses students pursuing the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and supports 411 beds. The project achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council upon its completion. Construction consisted of a foundation of cast-in-place concrete with a block and plank structural frame, a masonry veneer exterior, and a membrane and metal roof. The project also features a storefront and curtain wall finish, and punched window openings. Due to inclimate weather, the project incurred a total of 28 lost working days. Despite this unforeseen challenge, the Great Basin Hall project met its original substantial completion date through the diligent planning and scheduling efforts of CORE’s project team, as well as through the committed effort of our trade partners.
