The Fire Rescue Station No. 13 and Emergency Medical Station No. 88 projects will deliver two new, resilient emergency-response facilities for the City of Fort Lauderdale. Designed to meet the Florida Building Code’s Risk Category IV Essential Facility requirements and the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) standards, the facilities will strengthen the City’s public safety infrastructure and emergency response capabilities.
Fire Rescue Station No. 13 will be a 13,941-square-foot, multi-level fire station serving Fort Lauderdale’s central beach community and the area surrounding Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. The facility will include three full-size apparatus bays at the ground level, with second-floor living, sleeping, and support spaces designed to accommodate 24/7 firefighter operations.
Emergency Medical Station No. 88 will be a 9,014-square-foot dedicated EMS substation serving the Rio Vista neighborhood and residential areas south of the New River. Designed to support advanced life-support transport vehicles, the facility will feature CMU walls and reinforced concrete columns, a precast and cast-in-place concrete floor system, and a structural steel truss roof engineered for long-term hurricane resilience.
Upon completion, the two facilities will provide the City with modern, durable emergency-response assets that enhance service coverage and support the needs of Fort Lauderdale residents and visitors.
