The Mica Mountain High School project included the new construction of a 183,709-square-foot campus located in Tucson, AZ. The facility supports 12 buildings and approximately 1,000 students. The campus includes a gymnasium, wrestling and training buildings, an arts and auditorium building, a kitchen, a cafeteria, a student union, an administration building, classrooms, and staff buildings. The project also features baseball and softball athletic fields, an artificial turf football field and track, exterior basketball courts, an exterior amphitheater, and on-site staff and student parking lots. The high school campus was constructed on a slab-on-grade foundation with continuous spread footings, a structural frame of various material types including steel joisted with masonry and wood joisted with structural steel studs, an exterior skin of exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS), masonry, metal wall panels, and a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roof. The campus also features a pre-engineered metal building with a standing seam roof. The 60-acre site for Mica Mountain High School is the home of the Carolina blue, silver, and black Thunderbolts.
