The Hillenbrand Aquatic Center Improvements project, completed for the University of Arizona, included complex construction within an occupied athletics environment adjacent to both McKale Memorial Center and Casino del Sol Stadium. The project included demolition of the original lap and dive pools, renovation of the 1,000,000-gallon competition pool, and construction of a new pool equipment room and 65-meter-by-25-yard competition pool.
Throughout construction, a secondary lap pool remained operational only feet from the work area, while McKale Memorial Center continued to host home basketball games. Close coordination with University and Athletics stakeholders supported safe access, ongoing operations, and game-day activities while protecting the accelerated project schedule and minimizing campus disruption.
