In June 2024, CORE Construction (CORE) celebrated the successful delivery of the new Broward County Supervisor of Elections Facility in Fort Lauderdale, marking a milestone not only in construction but in how modern infrastructure projects are procured and delivered.
This 160,000-square-foot facility was executed under Florida’s Public-Private Partnership (P3) statute—an approach that allowed for early and ongoing collaboration between Broward County, the project architect PGAL, and CORE as the design-builder. This progressive P3 delivery method accelerated decision-making, minimized delays, and ultimately brought the project to substantial completion three days ahead of schedule.
Designed for security, transparency, and resiliency, the facility replaces aging infrastructure with a renovated four-story administrative building and a newly constructed warehouse and operations hub. Among its standout features: a public viewing tunnel for vote tabulation, wind resistance up to 200 mph, and six days of emergency backup power. The site also includes a dedicated staging area for election day activities, offering secure media connections and ample parking for oversized trucks and broadcast vehicles.
The project was delivered for approximately $80 million in design and construction costs, part of a larger $103 million program value. It also achieved LEED Silver certification, recognizing its energy-efficient systems and sustainability-driven design—an achievement that reflects both CORE and Broward County’s shared commitment to responsible building practices.
By leveraging a progressive P3 structure, CORE was able to tailor solutions in real-time, respond to evolving stakeholder needs, and deliver a secure, high-performing building that supports the democratic process for years to come.
As civic infrastructure evolves, CORE leads through innovation, collaboration, and transparency—hallmarks of our P3 approach. The new Broward County Supervisor of Elections Facility stands as a model of public and private sector collaboration built upon a foundation of trust.
