At CORE, employees share a common commitment to their culture, team and trust. Because of this commitment, each team member has unwavering, comprehensive trust in one another and the team itself, which ensures that teams function at a high level of efficiency. Team members are honest with each other; information is shared openly. And there is real communication and collaboration, as everyone works together to see each project through to completion. The strong culture of team and trust lets individual team members demonstrate their best talents and function cohesively as a unit to achieve common goals.

“With the people I work with on a day-to-day basis, it doesn’t even feel like work,” says Alexis Cruz, office receptionist. “It just feels like a family.”

CORE’s investment into the team and culture is evident, from the jobsite to the offices. For example, CORE proudly participates in local community events such as Fort Lauderdale’s King Holiday Celebration Parade and the Desorae Giles Smith Sistrunk 5K Run. These events not only strengthen CORE’s connection to the Fort Lauderdale community but bring employees closer together by fostering teamwork, support and a shared sense of purpose.

One event that recently highlighted CORE’s people-first culture was Take Your Child to Work Day, where employees brought their children into Florida’s headquarters at the Fort Lauderdale office for a day of learning and fun. The children toured the office, met employees from different departments and learned about the many roles that contribute to CORE’s success, from preconstruction to virtual construction. The day also included arts and crafts, decorating hard hats and building-themed games that employees and their children enjoyed together.

The event reflected the culture that CORE employees experience every day, one that is rooted in trust, teamwork and genuine relationships. Take Your Child to Work Day was a full-circle moment for a company dedicated to building K-12 schools and creating spaces where children are encouraged to learn, grow and be inspired.

“At CORE, what truly makes this company special is the people,” says Eric Melbostad, vice president of operations. “That’s what creates a workplace where employees genuinely want to grow and succeed together.”

During Take Your Child to Work Day employees proudly introduced their children to coworkers and shared the work they are passionate about. The event highlighted how CORE invests not only in professional development but also in creating an environment where employees feel valued and supported inside and outside the office.

CORE also has an Employee Excellence initiative, which is designed to develop well-rounded professionals and servant leaders who are committed to supporting their teams and delivering exceptional service to clients. Throughout this initiative, CORE invests in the growth of its people by strengthening leadership, communication, accountability and collaboration across all departments.

“CORE is a special place to work because it’s the mission of all of us in leadership to serve those around us and ultimately be invested in their success,” says Cody Kiess, president of CORE Florida.

Across South Florida, CORE employees continue to make an impact through community involvement and projects that help shape the places they call home, from schools and civic buildings to police and fire stations that help keep communities safe.
