The Sanders Science Hall project, built for Eureka College, included the addition of a four-story 17,270 classroom addition located adjacent to Vennum-Binkley Science Hall in Eureka, IL. The facility houses the college’s pre-professional programs, mathematics, computer science, and liberal arts. The classroom addition was constructed with a cast-in-place concrete foundation and steel structural frame. A masonry exterior and single-ply roof completed the construction. The project also features state-of-the-art organic and inorganic chemistry laboratories with prep rooms and instrumentation, a tiered multimedia classroom, classrooms, a seminar room, faculty offices, and a study room as well as sensor controlled lighting, and geothermal heating system. This project achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for site selection, sustainable design, and construction features. Sanders Science Hall project compliments the architecture of the adjoining 19th Century built Vennum-Binkley Science Hall and successfully blends the history of the campus with the latest technology.
