The Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) Secured East Entry and Remodel project involved exciting upgrades as well as a vital addition to the public building located in Carson City, the capitol of Nevada. The remodel of the LCB was an extensive tenant improvement of the existing interior space, creating a legal archives library on the first floor and a waiting lounge on the second floor of the facility. The new secured entry was constructed of steel, deck with CIP concrete, and framed gypsum wall assemblies. All the entry’s storefront systems and wall assemblies, including the structural steel sheathing on framed wall assemblies, are designed to current DHS standards for blast resistance. The project, which was safely completed during an active legislative session at the Legislative Counsel Bureau, now ensures a secured environment for the LBC while maintaining the library’s welcoming atmosphere.
