The South Reno Department of Motor Vehicles project, built for the Nevada State Public Works Division, included the new construction of a 54,111-square-foot facility in Reno, NV. The project featured 53 customer service windows, a commercial driver’s license office and testing center, a motorcycle testing area, an inspection station, and an 11,351-square-foot stand-alone emissions facility. The drive-through emissions laboratory included two bays, one with an in-ground dynamometer testing station and the other with a vehicle lift for inspections. The project also features the first drive-through DMV kiosk, a food service cafe, a hearing office with bulletproof glass and doors, a breakroom with outdoor seating and lockers, and 550 parking spaces. The new facility was constructed on a concrete foundation supported by footings with load-bearing masonry and steel structural framing, a masonry and metal panel exterior, and a single-ply roof.
