The Fire Station 85 at Hidden Falls project, built for the City of Henderson, included the new construction of an 11,946-square-foot fire station, replacing a dog park in Henderson, NV. The project also included the relocation and new construction of the two-acre dog park for the city. The new station features 11 spacious dormitories, a refueling station, and storage for off-highway vehicles that support rescue efforts for the harder-to-reach and less populated areas of Henderson. The new dog park includes a small breed area, large breed area, lighting, large turf grass areas, shade structures, concrete areas with picnic benches, trash cans and parking. The project received both LEED Gold and Greenview Global Certifications from the U.S. Green Building Council upon its completion for its energy-efficient design and inclusion of photovoltaic panels. The fire station was constructed on a cast-in-place concrete foundation with masonry walls, and steel joists with metal decking. It also includes exposed masonry and metal panels with membrane roofing. Landscaping includes selections that complement the surrounding desert vegetation and mountains. The Fire Station 85 at Hidden Falls project now provides a secure, flexible, functional, low maintenance building that is respectful of the local desert environment, and responsive to the needs of the evolving surrounding Henderson communities.
