The Janis L. Jones Blackhurst Elementary School project, built for Clark County School District, included the new construction of a two-story, 100,000-square-foot elementary school located in Las Vegas, NV. The facility supports students in kindergarten through fifth grade in four separate building wings. The project features an outdoor basketball court, playground equipment, artificial turf sports fields, shade structures, a bus drop-off area, and parking lots. The school was constructed on a spread footings foundation with a conventional structural steel frame, stucco over metal stud framing exterior, and a single-ply roof. Janis L. Jones Blackhurst Elementary School now provides a science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEM) focused curriculum to students while easing district overcrowding.
