The Sherwood Forest Elementary School project, built for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District, included the new construction of a three-story, 108,780-square-foot elementary school located in New Orleans, LA. The facility, now known as Einstein Charter School at Sherwood Forest, supports 996 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The project features a fenced-in playground and concrete space for outdoor activities, dedicated carpool lanes, tile-lined hallways to guide students, classrooms with integrated technologies, and a gymnasium with a stage, custom floors, and pull-out bleacher seating. The elementary school achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for sustainability, optimized energy performance, and indoor environmental air quality. The elementary school was constructed on a slab-on-grade concrete foundation with a steel structural frame, an exterior of metal panels and brick, and a tapered insulation roof. The Sherwood Forest Elementary School project now offers a state-of-the-art, energy efficient educational facility to the community after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
