The Gila River Police Department Facility project was constructed within the Gila River Indian Reservation, which was established in 1859 and spans over 580 square miles in Sacaton, AZ. The new police headquarters was constructed upon a 20-acre site, with 15 acres developed for the new public safety campus. The new campus features a main building housing dispatch, evidence storage, locker rooms, a fitness area, and community room. A support building features a vehicle bay, vehicle inspection, and K-9 kennels. The site also includes a healing garden, solar carports, and a vehicle impound lot. The structures were constructed of a foundation of slab-on-grade with continuous spread footings and integral color CMU with steel beams. An exterior skin of masonry, metal wall panels, and foam roofing completed the construction. The Gila River Police Department Facility now helps to provide vital law enforcement and public safety services to the Pima and Maricopa tribes within the Gila River Indian Community.
