The City of Dallas Fire Station No. 32 project included the new construction of a four-bay, 13,287-square-foot replacement fire station. The new station, which is twice the size of the original, features drive-through bay access, dormitories, a media room, stainless steel kitchen, dining room, shower and locker room, fitness room, and private courtyard. The project also features exposed structural beams, finely detailed solar shading devices, wood-grain panels, and large panes of glass for low-maintenance facades. The fire station achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the incorporation of a solar water heating system, a ground-source heat pump, and 28 geothermal wells for heating and cooling. The fire station was constructed of a slab-on-grade, pier, and grade beam foundation, a masonry steel structural frame, an exterior of brick veneer and metal wall panels and a TPO roofing system. Dallas Fire Station No. 32 now provides an energy efficient facility for firefighters to serve the surrounding community.
