The Jule F. Sumner High School project, built for Hillsborough County Public Schools and named after an early Southshore settler, included the new construction of a 255,000-square-foot high school campus in Riverview, FL. The campus supports six major buildings, which house classrooms, administration, a cafeteria, a theater, and a gymnasium. Home of the Stingrays, the 55-acre campus also features a football stadium, softball and baseball fields, dugouts, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, a multi-use field, and concessions. The high school campus is constructed with a slab-on-grade foundation with footings, a tilt-up with steel joists frame, and finished with a concrete and stucco exterior with a thermoplastic polyolefin roof. The campus was constructed to relieve overcrowding not only in the surrounding high schools, but to also provide support space for students in grades six through eight until a new middle school facility is built.
