Wrightson Ridge School Principal Shelly Lizardi and SUSD Assistant Superintendent Scott Downs accepted the keys from project superintendent Joseph Riesgo.
The 80,000-square-foot school, paid for by a voter-approved $20 million bond, was built southwest of Copper View Elementary School on land donated by Rancho Sahuarita Co.
Kindergarten through fifth-grade students will begin attending the school in January, and sixth- through eighth-graders will join them in fall 2019. The school had originally been scheduled to open in fall 2018 but was delayed because by the extension of Rancho Sahuarita Boulevard.
