The long-awaited Moana Springs Community Aquatic and Fitness Center will break ground next week as part of a $12 million project that will bring a state-of-the-art swim center to Reno.
Moana Pool permanently closed in 2007. Since then, the nonprofit Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics formed with the mission to rebuild an aquatics facility. Thanks to a $9 million pledge from The William N. Pennington Foundation, the project is moving forward with a groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 10. The Reno City Council approved this week a $12 million Owner-CMAR construction for the first phase of the project.
