The Charles W. Flanagan High School Addition project, completed for Broward County Public Schools, involved the extensive upgrade of the existing campus, which first opened its doors to students in 1996 – making it the first public high school located in Pembroke Pines, FL. The project involved the demolition of 12 classroom portables, the replacement of the roof and windows, upgraded fire sprinkler systems, and various renovations throughout the campus. A new chiller plan was constructed in addition to a 27,000-square-foot classroom building. The new classroom building, constructed of two-story concrete tilt-up walls with steel joists for the roof framing and steel beams for the second-floor framing, comes equipped with an elevator and houses 18 classrooms, two laboratories, and restrooms. The project also involved supporting site work, including new ramps, stairs, and asphalt paving. The home of the Falcons also received a new racquetball court as part of this exciting modernization project.
