The Sunrise Elementary School project, built for Orange County Public Schools, included the renovation of an occupied 55,000-square-foot elementary school located in Orlando, FL. The construction scope included generator and chiller upgrades, HVAC equipment replacement, electrical upgrades, lighting, intercom, technology, fire alarm, classroom finishes, and kitchen enhancements. The six phases of the project involved the moving in and out of existing and newly renovated spaces into swing space all while the campus is active and occupied. Each eight-week phase resulted in the complete renovation of 8 to 12 classrooms with a final summer phase that encompassed the media center, cafetorium, administration area, and classroom pods. Due to CORE’s careful planning and coordination with school officials, the Sunrise Elementary School project was completed by the start of the 2019 school year with minimal disruptions to students and staff.
