The NRG Stadium Photovoltaic Solar Array, Phase I project, built for NRG Energy, Inc., included the new construction of 6,000 square foot electrical vehicle charging area and solar canopy located at the NRG Stadium in Houston, TX. The facility houses the EVgo Electrical Vehicle Charging Lot where fans can park and recharge their electrical vehicles at six parking slots during games under the cover of a 7-kilowatt solar canopy. Construction of the electrical vehicle charging area consisted of excavation, lime stabilization, concrete pavers, and the installation of electrical vehicle charging units. The project also features a foundation of over-reamed concrete piers and a plate steel and box beam frame. The NRG Stadium Photovoltaic Solar Array, Phase I project promotes awareness of alternative energy production and renewable resources while creating excitement for fans visiting the home of the Houston Texans professional football team.
