The Mt. Pulaski High School Addition and Renovation project, built for Mount Pulaski Community Unit School District No. 23, included renovations and additions to an 83,935-square-foot existing facility in Mount Pulaski, IL. The new addition featured state-of-the-art classroom space, a gymnasium and locker rooms, administrative offices, and common space. Other features included combined learning commons and a media center for student collaboration, independent study, and project break-out sessions. An expanded entrance at the southwest corner of the gymnasium adjacent to the parking lot now serves as an entrance for events. The exterior received a new terraced courtyard and outdoor classroom space. The project was constructed on a concrete foundation supported by footings and drilled concrete piers with a structural frame comprised of load-bearing masonry, precast concrete, and structural steel, a masonry and precast concrete exterior, and a single-ply roof.
