The Workforce Development Center at Richland Community College project, built for Richland Community College, included the addition of a 6,000 square foot culinary center, interior renovations to classrooms, and the new construction of a 41,500 square foot higher educational center located in Decatur, IL. The facility houses the Shilling Community Education Center, Childcare Center, Industrial Stem Technology Department, and Workforce Development Institute. The higher education center was constructed on a concrete foundation with a structural steel frame. A masonry and glass exterior and a membrane and standing seam metal roof completed the construction. The project also features six classrooms, two conference rooms, kitchen, dining room, skilled trade vocational laboratories, fitness center for students, and offices for faculty and staff. This project achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the installation of energy efficient LED lighting and 42 geothermal wells. The Workforce Development Center at Richland Community College now provides a state-of-the-art facility for collegiate success.
