The Innovation Academy K-5 STEM School project, built for Amphitheater Unified School District, included the new construction of a 72,516-square-foot elementary school campus located in Oro Valley, AZ. The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) facility houses six buildings for approximately 500 students enrolled in preschool and kindergarten through fifth grade. The project features administrative offices, classrooms, a performing arts center, library, and a cafeteria. Site work consisted of a parking lot, bus loop, multiuse playfields comprised of basketball courts and play structures, and off-site infrastructure improvements for campus fire safety. The elementary school was constructed on a concrete footings and stem wall foundation with a structural frame of concrete masonry unit block and steel. An insulation and finish system and metal panel exterior with a PVC single-ply roof completed the construction. Due to CORE’s project planning and on-site coordination, the Innovation Academy K-5 STEM School now serves the district’s students in a unique learning environment.
